Using iPads to improve employee health

As part of a wellness program, 64% of employers offer an incentive for participation in biometric screenings, reports Aon Hewitt. However a growing percentage of employers are going beyond just rewarding participation; they are using screenings to evaluate employee health and achievement of certain health standards, and then rewarding employees based on their screening results.
According to the 2012 Employer Survey on Purchasing Value in Health Care study, 10% of employers give rewards (or impose penalties) based on employee health status for cholesterol and weight loss achievements. Furthermore, 23% of employers are considering plan design changes in 2013 towards this direction.
For employees and employers, having reliable, accurate biometric data is always a necessity for a corporate wellness program. However, this is especially true for those using outcomes-based or progress-based incentives, when the incentive is contingent on health status.
To improve the screening process, we recently developed our own proprietary biometric screening tool using an iPad-based software. This tool streamlines employee health screening events and gives employees immediate actionable information to improve their health status.
